Keep martens away from your home
Martens are excellent climbers and can jump long distances. This allows them to make their way through trees and bushes and squeeze into the smallest cracks in masonry. They often settle in attics. Knock directly on the wall or ceiling where the marten is likely hiding. An irritated marten will often end up finding a new shelter for itself.
Martens are nocturnal and sleep during the day. Anyone who turns on loud music or makes other noise at this time will disturb their peace and, if lucky, scare the marten away.
Ultrasonic devices emit sounds that are inaudible to humans but unpleasant to martens. Although this method often helps to scare martens away, unfortunately, it does not always work.
Animal traps are another option. However, you must have a hunting license to use them.
Find the entrance and close it. However, the marten should not be hiding inside the house at this time. In the spring, the marten may also abandon its young if you block its access.
How to keep martens away from your car
Martens get into houses at least as often as they roam around the territory, and are often attracted to cars. There are also several tricks you can use to chase martens away from your car.
More effective than ultrasound are, for example, electric shock devices: high-voltage plates are placed at potential points of entry. The electric shocks are simply very unpleasant for the marten, but they are not dangerous and scare the pest away from the car.
